U-M's Taylor Lewan ranked ninth among most talented college players

Michigan offensive tackle Taylor Lewan is ranked No. 9 on NFL.com?s list of the 50 most talented players in college football.

The list was compiled by Daniel Jeremiah, who included 17 seniors and 33 underclassmen. Seven of the underclassmen on his list won?t be eligible for the 2014 NFL draft.

Jeremiah?s analysis on Lewan: ?In the run game, he has the upper strength to torque and control defenders at the point of attack, and he is quick working up to the second level. In pass pro, he uses his length to control/steer defenders, but he plays too high at times and will also duck his head on occasion. I love his effort to finish to, and sometimes through, the whistle.?

Jeremiah?s top five:

1. South Carolina DE Jadeveon Clowney

2. Louisville QB Teddy Bridgewater

3. UCLA LB Anthony Barr

4. Alabama WR Amari Cooper

5. Alabama LB C.J. Mosley

House Speaker rejects Olympic boycott over Snowden

(AP) ? House Speaker John Boehner on Wednesday soundly rejected suggestions that the United States boycott the Winter Olympics in Sochi if Russia grants asylum to National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden.

"Why would we want to punish U.S. athletes who've been training for three years to compete in the Olympics over a traitor who can't find a place to call home?" Boehner told reporters at a news conference.

The Ohio Republican was asked about Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham's idea that if Russia provides a safe haven for Snowden, the United States should consider keeping its athletes home during the 2014 Winter Olympics next February.

Boehner said Graham was "dead wrong."

Snowden, who disclosed details about U.S. intelligence surveillance of Internet activity, has applied for temporary asylum in Russia three weeks after arriving at a Moscow airport from Hong Kong. The United States wants Snowden sent home to face prosecution for espionage.

In the 1980s, the United States boycotted the Olympics over Russia's invasion of Afghanistan. The U.S. Olympic Committee said in a statement Wednesday that it strongly opposes the idea that a boycott is in the country's best interest.

"If there are any lessons to be learned from the American boycott of 1980, it is that Olympic boycotts do not work," said committee spokesman Patrick Sandusky. "Our boycott of the 1980 Olympic Games did not contribute to a successful resolution of the underlying conflict. It did, however, deprive hundreds of American athletes, all whom had completely dedicated themselves to representing our nation at the Olympic Games, of the opportunity of a lifetime."

Snowden's fate has roiled already tense U.S.-Russian relations.

At the White House, spokesman Jay Carney said he wouldn't speculate on any boycott of the Olympics, but added that the U.S. agrees with Russian President Vladimir Putin that Snowden's case needn't and shouldn't harm U.S.-Russian relations.

"It's a broad and important relationship," Carney said. "We want to continue to see that relationship strengthened."

Apple?s developer-only WWDC 2013 videos are on YouTube

The company famous for secrecy is having a pretty hard time keeping things private these days. That now includes the company?s closed-door, developer-only training sessions from WWDC last month. Someone using the name WWDCVideos posted nearly 100 videos from Apple-led sessions to YouTube.

WWDC videos YouTubeThe sessions posted cover everything from iAd, iTunes Connect, working with WebKit, UIKit, app sandboxing, and much, much more.

Now, Apple could have posted them, and then there would be no privacy or secrecy problem here at all. However,?as MacStories noted earlier, it seems unlikely the poster of the videos is Apple. First, Apple has its own YouTube account (it goes by ?Apple?) and second, WWDC is closed to the public. The only people who can attend are registered iOS and Mac developers and they must agree to non-disclosure agreements when registering.

It would be a bit odd for Apple to undermine its own NDA agreement, potentially giving developers license to publicly discuss or post in detail about any of the sessions they attended last month.

YouTube shows the videos were posted six days ago, and as of this posting, most individual videos show view counts in the double digits or low 100s.

Weekend Gaming: SEGA's Crazy Taxi for Android - Android ...

Weekend Gaming: SEGA?s Crazy Taxi for Android

This week brought plenty of new games for Android, not to mention multiple teasers like the impressive looking Asphalt 8: Airborne. Since it isn?t out yet, how about a little Dreamcast nostalgia for your weekend Android gaming with Crazy Taxi. The smashing hit from the days of old is finally on Android, and you?ll want to give it a try.

crazy

SEGA, in their ongoing attempt to bring some of the best and most popular classic titles from the Dreamcast days to Android, have finally delivered a quality console-port of Crazy Taxi for Android. We?ve seen them deliver Sonic the Hedgehog, and now the crazy course, dangerous driving of Crazy Taxi has arrived too.

The game isn?t free sadly, and comes at the price of $5.00 but you get to enjoy the full experience. You?ll be able to barrel down streets, hit all those ramps as we used to, and all the other shenanigans we all loved. As you know in Crazy Taxi, time is money, so you better get going.

The controls were something many were worried about, but SEGA does a great job with this. Obviously a lot of the game is touch controls, but they?ve integrated gamepad and MOGA controller support for the optimal experience. Then since we have the full game we have the classic soundtrack with some Offspring and Bad Religion to make you feel like it?s the year 2000 all over again. We have the original and arcade mode, 16 mini-games and more from this classic title.

Get Crazy Taxi for Android from the link below and enjoy hours of hectic driving and time trials. Also, for those who don?t want to play an old classic we also wanted to toss in a few worthy mentions for your weekend gaming. Those being Infinite Flight, which is a solid simulator game. Or as always we have another zombie game with Z End: World War if you want some Dead Trigger style shooter fun to enjoy all weekend long.

Kane County Chronicle | Pets rule the day at Windmill City Festival

BATAVIA - Jack Morris of Batavia knew that his eight-year-old bearded dragon Connor would probably stand out at Saturday's Pet Parade at the Windmill City Festival.

Not surprisingly, Connor was give the award for most unusual pet at the parade. The award also could have easily gone to Jack's ball python Sniper, which the 13-year-old wore on his head during the parade.

Sniper did not mind the day's sunny skies and warm temperatures.

"His kind came from Africa," Jack said. "They are used to the weather."

The family also brought their toy poodle Shark Bait to the parade. Next year, they hope to make an even bigger splash by bringing their horses to the parade. They have three horses that are boarded in St. Charles

"I think the horses could lead the parade," said Sheila Morris, Jack's mother.

Also garnering attention was Terry Chechakli's blue and gold macaw, Pito, who as part of his trick, sat on Jordan, his border collie mix. That impressed master of ceremonies Craig Foltos.

"If we can get a bird and a dog to get along, we can all learn to get along," Foltos said.

Pito received the award for best trick. Equally impressive is his 50-word vocabulary.

"He picks up what he wants to pick up," Chechakli said. "He won't do things on command."

Ed Izenstark and his wife, Valerie, of Batavia, decided to dress their dachshund in a hot dog costume.

"He actually really likes it," he said. "He's worn it at Halloween before."

WIndmill City Festival will continue Sunday at the Batavia Riverwalk, Houston Street and Island Avenue. Activities include an ice cream eating contest at 2 p.m. and a fire hose challenge at 3 p.m.

A full schedule is available at www.windmillcityfest.org.
